Body scan meditation
This is a simple and straight forward meditation technique that can be practiced sitting or lying down.
Begin with a few minutes of anapanasati meditation to quieten the mind and focus the attention, then bring your awareness to the top of you head and feel any sensation there. Slowly and gradually move your attention systematically through the body, feeling any sensations (heat, cold, pressure, pulsing, itching, tingling, contact of the skin with your clothing, etc.) in each and every part of the body, finishing with toes. Make sure that you examine every part of the body thoroughly. The whole process should take 15 to 40 mn. You can also start at the toes and end at the top of the head (this is said to be more energising).
