Yoga Asanas
In his famous Satipatanasa sutta (the discourse on the four foundation of mindfulness),
Siddhartha Gautama (the Buddha) lists mindfulness of the body as the first foundation of mindfulness.
The practice of asana is an excellent way to develop mindfulness of the body and breath
and the first step in the practice of sati yoga is therefore to develop a mindful asana practice,
together with a basic meditation practice.
Yoga asanas are a way to make friend with our body. Daily asana practice fosters mindfulness of the body, and help us to develop a partnership between breath, body and mind.
